WHAT IS GEOGRAPHY?

Geography studies the Earth's landscapes, environments, and societies from a spatial perspective. Our curriculum explores two interconnected realms:

• Physical Geography: Focusing on landscapes, natural hazards, ecosystems, and climate.

• Human Geography: Focusing on human behaviors, urban environments, and resource management.

CURRICULUM AIMS

The aims of the Geography curriculum at LTPSS are to enable students to:

1. Spatial Understanding: Develop interest in how human activities and natural phenomena are distributed globally. 

2. Core Concepts: Master foundational geographical concepts, including space, place, and the dynamic interactions between humans and nature. 

3. Geographical Skills: Enhance critical thinking through map reading, spatial analysis, and enquiry-based fieldwork. 

4. Sustainable Citizenship: Nurture informed, globally-minded citizens dedicated to sustainable development locally and internationally.

The Geography curriculum is structured progressively to bridge junior foundational knowledge with senior secondary examination requirements:

We bring geography to life through hands-on, practical, and technology-driven experiences:

• Enquiry-Based Fieldwork: Local field studies focusing on coastal morphology measurements, microclimate calculations, and urban land-use surveys.

• Map Reading Workshops: Intensive training in topographic maps, cross-sections, photographic analysis, and spatial interpretation techniques.

• National Geography Exploration: Field trips and study tours exploring urban development and environmental governance across the Greater Bay Area and Mainland China.
