To raise students’ awareness of respecting others and embracing diversity, S2 students participated in the interclass short-video project competition during the Life Education lessons organized by the Value Education Committee. Every class had to produce a 4-minute movie covering the theme of building respect and care for others in our lives.
Each class association led the class to complete the whole project together from February to March. Class representatives took the chance to coordinate and communicate with different parties. With the assigned schedule, they designed the storyboard, wrote the script, made the props and took up the role in shooting and editing the video with the help of campus media mentors and teacher advisers.
At the end of every week each class representative had a meeting with the Value Education Committee members in charge of this project (Chairperson Ms. Erica CHIU with teacher advisors Mr. Yu Hung WONG and Mr. Ivan SERRANO) and the Campus Media student mentors. In these meetings class representatives presented their current week’s progress, pointing out their difficulties and problems that arose, in order to find advice from both teacher advisors and campus media student mentors. Teacher advisors marked every class’s week progress based on their presentation and goals achieved.
Finally, every class had to prepare a presentation to introduce their short-film in the movie showcase that took place on the 22nd of March at the school hall. Class representatives presented their movies to the rest of S2 students and class teachers. Here are some activity highlights:
Students and teachers all had a great time in the LED lessons, especially the Showcase Day. But most importantly every class managed to sort out their problems and difficulties encountered during the production and so, they were able to come up with a finalized movie. Through this experience, apart from appreciating everyone’s differences, students learned how to improve their communication and team working skills, in order to solve any sort of problems more effectively in the future.
The final results of the S2 inter-class short video competition were as following:
- Best Storyline Award: 2A
- Best Creativity Award: 2S
- Best Audience Award: 2M
- Best Acting Award: 2R
- Best production Award: 2T
- Best movie Award: 2T
