The School Curriculum
LTPSS offers a broad and diversified school curriculum to equip students with the 21st century skills necessary to thrive in this everchanging world. Students are provided with a vast range of active, challenging and engaging learning opportunities that aim to develop them into STAR learners, with the traits of Self-management, Teachable spirit, Aspiration and Resilience.
Secondary 1-3: Students follow a broad-based curriculum covering different key learning areas. Additionally, some featured programmes including Performing Arts, Spanish, Food Science, and Design and Technology are timetabled for all students to broaden their interests and talents.
Secondary 4-6: The School adopts the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Curriculum. Students take the 4 core subjects (Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal Studies / Citizenship and Social Development) and select 2 to 3 electives from 15 elective subjects, applied learning courses and other language courses. Enrichment programmes are tailor-made to address the diverse learning needs and interests of students taking 2 electives. Starting from the 2021-22 school year, three new components have been added to the senior form curriculum, namely IELTS, Music and Applied Learning Course on Multimedia Storytelling.
English is the medium of instruction for all subjects except for Chinese Language, Chinese History and Chinese Literature. Students’ use of English is well supported by the English-rich environment created by a blend of local teachers and around twenty native English speaking teachers. Students’ reading habit is also encouraged through participation in various innovative reading programmes held in the modernised and well-stocked school library.
