Our School Choir is delighted to be invited by RTHK Radio 4 to perform in the “College Christmas Concert – Messiah Encore” on 24th December 2019 in Wah Yan College, Kowloon.
Since 2005, RTHK Radio 4 has staged a concert on Christmas Eve to let the general public (both on-site, TV and the web) enjoy a festive musical treat. This is a popular event, much awaited by music lovers and families. 15 years ago, the RTHK Radio 4 started off the Christmas concert as “Messiah in the Park” in which Part One, and the famous Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s best-loved oratorio was sung, along with a Christmas medley which called for the audience to sing along. It was fun! For the 5th and 10th year, ‘Messiah’ was the recurring theme. This year, as the RTHK Radio 4 marks their 15th Anniversary, it will be a total reprise, with the same programme in 2005.
Our School Choir is one of the 8 schools from all over Hong Kong to be in the Joint School Choir which has more than 200 members and is trained by Dr. Lesley Chan of Wah Yan College, Kowloon. The Joint School Choir performs alongside the RTHK Festival Orchestra and the Die Jungen Konzertisten Choir in this festive Christmas program.
This is such a wonderful and valuable learning experience for our School Choir members and we sincerely thank RTHK and Dr. Chan for giving us this great opportunity.
