S2 English Learning Event: Freak Show
On June 5, 2024, our S2 students showcased their creativity and understanding of literature at the much-anticipated Freak Show, part of their English curriculum centred around the novel Cirque du Freak. This unique event allowed students to engage deep into the novel’s themes and explore the concept of a “freak” through a hands-on and interactive experience.
Each of the four classes participated enthusiastically, having divided into groups to brainstorm and create their own interpretations of a “freak”. The students crafted their costumes and props with great innovation and then had the opportunity to present their creations at the Freak Show.
The highlight of the day was the presentation segment, where selected groups from each class presented their “freaks” in front of the entire S2 cohort. The costumes were not only creative but also a testament to the students’ deep understanding of the novel, showcasing their ability to translate their creations into visual and performance art.
The event was a resounding success, leaving a fantastic impression on both students and teachers alike. The performances were not just displays of creativity but also of the critical thinking and teamwork fostered amongst our students through our English school-based curriculum.
This extraordinary day demonstrated each student’s incredible capacity for creativity, making it truly unforgettable. Congratulations to all S2 students on a job well done! We look forward to more innovative and engaging learning experiences in the future.
