On 22 nd November 2017, a team of teachers (A.K.A. LTPSS Mo Family) from Law
Ting Pong Secondary School held a special Movember booth to allow students to vote
for how they were to shave their beards and moustaches.
The Movember Foundation was founded in 2003 with the commitment of allowing
men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Since 2003, it has raised over
$6billion, which has funded men’s research projects and health programs related to
physical inactivity, mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
This was the fourth year in a row that LTPSS held a month-long campaign to raise
awareness and funds for the Movember Foundation. The LTPSS Mo Family grew and
groomed their beards and moustaches throughout November. They braved the
irritation of the Mo and sacrificed their handsome faces all in the name of charity.
Informative displays and announcements were made to educate students on the aims
and values of this charity.
On the day of the voting, students and teachers made donations to choose the design
which they wanted to see their “beloved” teachers shave their beards and moustaches.
By the end of the event, students revelled in the joy of deciding the fate of the Mo
Family and, in the process, raised a sizeable sum for the Movember Foundation. Mo
Sistas joined in by painting on moustaches to further increase the presence of Mos
around the campus. This really made students stop to think about what was
happening.
Parents also showed their support to the Mo Family by making additional donations.
In total, Law Ting Pong Secondary School raised $8,306 and donated this to Hong
Kong Cancer Fund, Movember Foundation’s partner in Hong Kong. To support the
