On Saturday April 21st 21 teachers from the Mathematics, Liberal Studies, Science and Chinese panels attended a 4 hour workshop led by Barbara Cockroft where they applied the four principles of FIP to upgrade selected Units of Work. Our aim was to make the learning outcomes and process much more visible to our students so they knew what they had to achieve in order to get a top grade. The more we invest in the use of FIP then the more confident we are that student results will continue to improve. LTPSS is recognised as one of the leading schools who are able to use FIP to make learning more engaging and challenging.
Earlier in the week Barbara visited various classrooms to see how teachers were adopting FIP and gave us a progress report. On Wednesday Peter Woodhead and Jenn Horgos shared the FIP experience with a group of interested schools at the EDB and this was followed by a workshop for Subject Heads on how Professional Learning Communities can help us improve the way we monitor student learning and achievement. Finally on Thursday two of our senior staff attended a FIP Leaders course led by Barbara at the EDB
