Our school is devoted to nurturing students’ leadership and all-round development and hope that they can contribute to society in the future. In order to strengthen students’ leadership and social awareness, the Buddy Scheme Committee organised a visit to one of the elderly homes in the North District, Tung Fong Home for the Aged.
Prior to our visit, we prepared a half-day training session for S1 students on 30 June. Students learnt some skills for serving and communicating with the elderly through different kinds of group learning activities.
Our students started their journey to the elderly home with love and warmth in the afternoon on 4 July. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed all of us with smiles. We were all happy and motivated to serve.
Our students were assigned to different blocks for conducting activities. They designed some mini-games and performances for the elderly. We consistently heard laughers and encouraging words from the elderly. What is more, they were very proactive in talking with them during the whole visit.
At the end of the visit, our students gave some gift packs to the elderly. Some of them even wanted to stay longer! We are very delighted to see the leadership and synergy demonstrated by our students.
In the future, the Buddy Scheme Committee will organise activities as such to orchestrate more learning experience for our students.
