Book Week is a great time for staff and students to celebrate the joys of reading. This year, we had a new event, “Read What You Wear.” This event gives LTPSS a chance to change up their regular uniform with one casual dress item each day. The different clothing items represent a book type or subject area that we have in the library.
Tuesday, 27 October: Sports Fan Day– LTPSS wore shirts from different sports to celebrate sports writing and analytics. We also looked at sports fiction writing and author Kwame Alexander.
Wednesday, 28 October: Hat Day– Everyone put on their “thinking caps” and we discussed personal development books, a very large market in China and the US. We specifically looked at the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and talked about sharing our own story.
Thursday, 29 October: Crazy Socks Day– Everyone was invited to wear their most colorful socks as we appreciated drawing books in particular those by well-known author Christopher Hart.
Friday, 30 October: Character Dress Up Day– This day has always been lots of fun for students and staff alike. People are given the opportunity to celebrate the fiction characters that they love the most. Whether it is from television, movies, books, games, or anime we are all a fan of something.
Winners of all the prizes will be announced November 16 during our morning assembly. Thanks and Happy Reading!
