On 14 October 2023, our school was honoured to have the opportunity to join a talk titled “『科港科大——雄彬一號』帶你走進航天領域” organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which has successfully launched its high-resolution optical satellite “HKUST-Xiongbin-1” in August 2023. About forty of our S3 to S5 students, who have a keen interest in space technology, participated in this inspiring event.
Through the talk, students gained valuable insights into the latest developments and achievements of satellite technology in Hong Kong. They also learnt how satellite technology can help address some of the pressing issues faced by our society, such as the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters like typhoons, heavy rain and floods. The talk stimulated students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring satellites and their wider applications and encouraged them to pursue their further studies in this area.
