The English Public Speaking Contest 2021 Grand Final was held on the 20th May, 2021. The 12 finalists were chosen from over 100 Secondary 4-5 students in the preliminary round. 4S Nicole Reigne Pana Ibardaloza was among the 12 finalists.
The final consisted of two parts: delivering their prepared speech on the theme of “Creation” for 3 minutes, followed by the impromptu session where the judges asked the finalists a “random” question unrelated to their speeches. The contestants needed to answer and elaborate their ideas immediately for 2 minutes. The questions covered a range of topics from the importance of arts education to animal abandonment, from meeting an alien to self-driving cars.
We are overjoyed to announce that Nicole was awarded the first-runner up of the competition. Nicole delivered her prepared speech confidently and eloquently and answered the impromptu question from the adjudicator with humour and energy. A member of the audience even went to Nicole afterwards and told her that she enjoyed her speech very much!
We are exceptionally proud of Nicole and wish that her incredible achievement will encourage all school-mates to be brave to take part in similar public speaking competitions in the future.
