14th January was a fruitful day for four of our S3 students. 3A Stephy Young, 3A Nic Ng, 3M Hitomi Leung and 3M Erwin Lau won the first runner-up and $3,000 gift vouchers in the Towngas Cooking Competition organised by Farmfest and Towngas Cooking Centre. Their dish is called Aubergine Trio. It is a three-in-one dish which includes 2 canapés and a main course made of aubergines grown in our school. It also celebrates both Chinese and Western culinary arts which represent our school’s internationally local background.
In the competition, each team member demonstrated great competency and professionalism. Both judges and teachers were very impressed with the high standard of food being presented. Our winners have shared a few words with us.
“Being in a cooking competition is not all about cooking skills. Cooperation and trust built among teammates are the key to success. I did enjoy working in this team. Hopefully we will have more opportunities to work together.” Nic Ng.
“I thought it would be pretty nerve-wracking to cook on the stage but when we focused on our work, we forgot there were people watching us. I feel grateful to work in such a great team which supports each other so well and gets things done nicely.” Stephy Young.
“Our recipe doesn’t use any processed food at all. We really like the natural tastes which come from fresh vegetables. After the competition, I prefer to cook for myself rather than eating out.” Hitomi Leung.
“Thank you Miss Yip and our school for giving us such an amazing opportunity to increase our self-confidence and communication skills. It was a memorable experience for us all.” Erwin Lau.
Once again, well done to our S3 chefs. We are truly proud of you.
