On 30th June 2017 (Friday), 7 S4 and S5 students paid a visit to the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Co. Ltd cum Mock Interview Workshop arranged by our school’s Careers and Life Planning Education Committee.
During the visit, students learnt about the company’s profile, visited a Chow Tai Fook’s retail store mockup, took part in a jewelry selling role play, learnt about interview tips from HR professionals and took part in a mock interview activity.
Our students found the work-related experience insightful and rewarding. Below are some of the reflections written by two S5 students:
Visiting Chow Tai Fook was an extraordinary experience for me. During the jewelry selling role play, we learnt how to be a salesperson with absolute politeness and skills to get along with customers. The role play was like a stepping stone for me to take part in the professional jewelry sales industry in the future because through the role play, I learnt more about the features of this career. We also took part in the a mock interview. I found this part particularly useful because I just realized how unpredictable and complex the questions could be.
The experience have offered me a chance to find out what I may like in my future career.

We all know that the jewellery industry in Hong Kong is famous for its jewellery designs and excellent service. It is undoubtedly the centre of excellence. It is also one of the main industries that play a major role in economy in Hong Kong.
The visit allowed me to broaden my exposure in the jewellery industry, for example, the career opportunities, interviewing skills, and its company background and business nature. I learnt much from joining this activity. I had never realized that there were so many basic serving skills to learn as a salesperson when a customer stepped into a branch store. I learnt ways to greet the customers, say “Welcome to Chow Tai Fook” with a big smile, hand over a cup of hot tea, introduce myself, give my own business card and ask for surnames of the customers. I found the whole occupation fun and suitable for me as I liked interacting with different kinds of people so as to improve my language skills and boost my confidence.
It was my honour to join this well-planned and enlightening activity. I really take delight in this activity and hope to join more similar activities in the future.
