Book Tasting:
Students were able to “taste” books of different genres at the Book Tasting in the library. Chef Natasha “served” students trays of books to students at different genre themed tables. The chosen genres were: historical fiction, action/adventure, realistic fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, and science fiction. The books chosen were typical of the genre type and new choices for many of the students. Students “tasted” the books by writing their first impressions and reading only a few pages. After 5 minutes students rotated to a new genre table to taste a different genre. It was a different to get students reading and trying new story types. Thanks to everyone that participated!
Book Cookie Art:
On Wednesday, October 23 students baked book and character themed cookies with Ms. Yip in Food Science. Using a dyed, low-sugar cookie dough recipe students made cookies related to their characters, costumes, and books. The cookies turned out really well and tasted good too! Thanks Ms. Yip and Ms. Melody Chan for their baking and artistic skills.
Literary Trivia Quiz:
Ms. Horgos and Sean Kong (3S) went head to head in a friendly literary trivia quiz. Both participants were knowledgeable about some topics and surprised by some others. In the end, Ms. Horgos triumphed even after a small team of students worked together. Both participants were awarded with a stationery kit. Thanks for your good sportsmanship!
