In the academic year 17-18, our S5 student Law Wan Sze, Jenny, was awarded the prestigious Harvard Summer School scholarship (see https://www.ltpss.edu.hk/schoolweb/harvard-book-prize-press-release/). The prize for being selected among over 150 students through the rounds of essays, interviews and tests was an all-expenses paid trip to Harvard University for the Summer School programme in 2019. Here’s what our now graduate, Jenny, had to say about the experience:
The Harvard Summer School experience I had was nothing more than a dream-come-true for me. I am way beyond grateful for every single moment I had in the US; even the breaths of the fresh air were like gifts to me! I’m lucky enough to meet all these talented and unique friends and professors, who had interesting personal stories and characters and were so inspirational to me! It was the friends that I made which added splendid colours to my journey of growth and learning in the summer school.
Apart from taking classes in the classrooms, I also travelled to many new and stunning places near Harvard and learnt to embrace the beauty of cultural differences. My horizons are definitely broadened after having this beyond eye-opening experience. I realised how enormous the world is and how tiny I am. The end of the summer school experience is never the end of my journey of pursuing further dreams. I am glad to have realised my potential in that trip and I am more confident than ever to chase after my goals in the near future!
